The Schouten family business started as a bakery back in 1893. We were then active for years in the trading of raw materials and livestock feeds. Converting these plant-based raw materials into human food is however a much more efficient and sustainable approach to doing things.
That’s why Henk Schouten started developing meat substitutes based on soy protein in 1990. Expertise, sustainability, food safety, and transparency remain core values, based on the long history and experience in agri-food. All products are developed by us in Giessen under the direction of Henk and his sons Peter, Niek-Jan, and Wouter Schouten.
