Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL

Adding value to food and feed

From higher nutritional value to increased shelf life – adding value to food and feed is the ambition of Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF). The food and feed company, headquartered in Thailand, joined Foodvalley to get inspired and to find partners to team up with.

“When visiting the Netherlands a few years ago, we were impressed with the research and development in and around Wageningen,” says Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer at CPF. “We wanted to be part of such an internationally leading innovation network.”

CPF wants to learn more about new farming technologies and add extra value to its product portfolio. “We are working on probiotics for animal feed and pork meat with elevated levels of healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Another example are various food products that help prevent people from developing diabetes.”

Advanced farm-monitoring system

In turn, CPF wants to share its extensive knowledge and expertise regarding the formulation of animal feed and the design of farming systems. “We have, for example, implemented a system to continuously monitor the condition of chickens on a farm,” Boondoungprasert illustrates.

Feed and food

CPF’s core business covers a broad range of feed and food products, which are produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Its feed portfolio includes various products for livestock and aquafood. Its products for human consumption range from (plant-based) chicken and pork to shrimp and fish. When it comes to animal feed, CPF is one of the major producers in the world. CPF’s products are exported to over 30 countries around the world, including the UK, Germany, Italy, Scandinavia and Japan.
