Holland Food Valley Pavilion at the IFT Food Expo 2010
Chicago, Illinois, 17 - 20 July 2010
In cooperation with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA, part of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs) Food Valley organized the 'Holland Food Valley Pavilion' at the largest and most important of the IFT trade shows, the IFT Food Expo in Chicago. The 69th running of this must-visit show for food technologists took place 17 – 20 July.
This trade show attracts over 23,000 food experts every year from all over the globe. Participants come from the US and Canada (40% of the total), Asia (30%) and Europe (20%). The show is intended for R&D institutes an companies who are looking to exchange technologies in an international environment. Dutch companies such as DSM, Purac, Innova, FrieslandCampina Domo, TNO and NIZO have exhibited at the IFT show for years and are very positive about the results.
The IFT Food Expo 2010 offers important opportunities for companies and institutes whose Unique Selling Point is technology. American counterparts are looking for partners who can support them in creating added value. Development new applications and technologies are an important part of these companies’ core activities. Promising startups as well as technology-oriented companies are good potential business partners for these American companies.
In summary, the goals of participating in the IFT Food Expo 2010 were:
• Meeting interesting international counterparts
• Increasing name recognition
• Pursuing cooperative and commerce agreements
• Generating leads for foreign investment in the Netherlands
• Promoting the Netherlands as a whole as a food-oriented country

Food Valley symposium
Besides representation with the Holland Food Valley Pavilion the Food Symposium 'Texture: Where sensory experience and analytical knowledge meet' was held on Monday 19 July from 10.30 am - 12.00 pm. The symposium speakers were from NIZO food research, TNO, Top Institute Food & Nutrition and Wageningen University and Research Centre. met sprekers van NIZO food research, Topinstituut Food & Nutrition, TNO en Wageningen UR.
Holland Food Valley Cocktail Reception
On Monday 19 July the well visited Holland Food Valley Cocktail Reception took place at the Millennium Park Grill in Millennium Park. The reception was organized in cooperation with the Netherlands Embassy in Washington and the Consulate-General of the Netherlands in Chicago.
